Author of The Flying Friar, Holed Up, The Avengefuls, Doctor Who: Room With A Deja Vu, The Many Murders Of Miss Cranbourne, Chase Variant. It is the perfect Christmas gift and I'm looking forward to seeing the fans dressed up in their favourite Ghosts costumes for the events. It encapsulates each ghosts personality perfectly, you can just imagine hearing these inserts in their voices. From the sampler of the Ghosts Archives and I’ll start by saying, if you’re a fan of the show (I’m going to assume that you are because EVERYONE should be.

I received an advance copy for free from NetGalley, on the expectation that I would provide an honest review. I especially love the Julian character and there were two very amusing sections concerning him in this small example. Some fabulous back stories to all of our favourite Ghosts characters, from love letters written by who else but Thomas, to some newspaper clippings demonstrating some of Pat's non-fatal accidents.

I loved reading all of Julian’s election leaflets and speeches particularly the two speeches he prepares for if he wins and if he doesn’t win and I loved reading the love letters from Thomas! I’m glad they decided to release a book as it really does give us a further opportunity to get to know more about the ghosts and enjoy a bit more of the show we all know and love. I’m a big fan of both Ghosts and Ghosts US so I was really interested in reading a sample of this companion book to the series. There are back stories for the different characters, declarations of love, historical insights into life in the past, and excellent pictures of our favourite ghosts.

Gathered together in this volume is a treasure trove of unearthed cuttings, original records and rare artefacts that explore the unseen lives of those who died at Button House: from Thomas's love letters to Pat's 'Summer Camp Rap', and from Julian's campaign promises to Lady Button's Rules of Etiquette. Come down the travelators, exit Sainsbury's, turn right and follow the pedestrianised walkway to Crown Walk and turn right - and Coles will be right in front of you. The Button House Archives will be published by Bloombury on 26th October, tying in with the end of the comedy. I confess to being a huge fan of the BBC's Ghosts comedy and this book is a great companion piece for any fan.In a statement by the creators, they say "we started kicking around the idea of a 'Ghosts' companion book quite early on in the life of the series and got very excited about how the characters could show up in all kinds of documents and artefacts. The only reason I couldn’t give this one five stars (it has to be simply immaculate for me for five stars), is that I struggled to read the handwritten sections of the book. It doesn't say anything too new but there are many intricate but minor details about the ghosts' past lives through the form of artefacts such as letters, newspapers, photos, other correspondence etc. I read the physical book a couple of months ago and never got around to finishing the audiobook until now I am obsessed!

It is the perfect Christmas gift and I’m looking forward to seeing the fans dressed up in their favourite ‘Ghosts’ costumes for the events. Also a little disappointing thelat Katy Wix wasn't able to read Mary's sections, very funny character. Even a double page of the Radio Times schedule with each ghost circling what programmes they will watch really sums them up. And if I got that just from the sneak preview, I can only imagine the full read will be everything us fans could want and more. From Thomas’ love letters, to Fanny’s tips on etiquette and Julian’s election speeches, this book contains all of the character insiders the show didn’t get a chance to show us! It's got letters, a getting to know you bio, transcripts from the House of Commons, newspaper clippings, a fitness guide, an archaeological report and more, just in this small sample.

I had a great time with this book and full recommend it as an essential reads for fans of the show and a perfect coffee table book for me to dive into whenever I desire. I mean I already knew it was epic from the brief glance I had at it but I’m so glad it’s on my shelf. I love Ghosts, such a well written, funny, and sometimes genuinely poignant show, and if this sample is anything to go by, the book will be a good extension of that - I found the Julian sections in particular very funny. It is the perfect Christmas gift and I'm looking forward to seeing the fans dressed up in their favourite 'Ghosts' costumes for the events. Written by the show’s creators – Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond – this eclectic archive is a unique chance to discover more about the beloved ghosts of Button House.
