Like a lot of the easily accessible whisky, it’s a lot more presentable on the nose. It’s very coherent and enticing. Once you get in the mouth, though, it’s a mess. The flavors get all bungled up, and a watery texture doesn’t help either. I feel like the finish was the best part because the flavors get their act together in that moment.

These Speyside single malt distilleries each offer a unique taste profile that will surely captivate your palate.

The Glenlivet 15 French Oak Reserve – Review

Palate: An extravagant and vivid flavour of winter spices lingers on the palate, with sweet hints of cinnamon and cloves combined with a dry oak sensation. Glenfiddich 18 is a single malt Scotch whisky from the Glenfiddich Distillery, located in Dufftown, Scotland. It has a rich and intense nose of sherry, raisins and vanilla with a hint of butterscotch, as well as a sweet malty taste including honey, chocolate and spice. The finish is long-lasting and smooth, with oak notes providing an undercurrent to the other flavours. Glenlivet 18 yrs has won prizes and is one of the classic Speyside drams, so I do know that many people like it very much. I guess it just doesn't fit in my palate like the great ones (and of course, over 80 points isn't bad, I was just expecting a score closer to 90).

OK, that's not a serious title really. What I'm saying is that this is so, sooooo drinkable! I've just finished one sample, (which was to be my third and final drink of the day after reviewing a couple of others) but I've found myself pouring another. Nose: Sumptuous blend of tart lemon, juicy nectarine and crisp apple flavours with a hint of spice. Every sip is an explosion of fruity goodness that’ll leave you wanting more! On the nose, Glenlivet 18 year old whisky has strong, complex aromas of chewy sultanas, Sherry-soaked peels, barley sugars, toasty grains, and faint wisps of smokiness. I highly recommend Glenmorangie’s 18 year old expression for whisky connoisseurs who are looking for something special. This expression makes for an indulgent experience that will not soon be forgotten!
