Some of the side characters aren't developed very much, but I felt like that was very in keeping with Claire's antisocial personality. Separate timelines don’t bother me much – if handled well they add spice to the story – and I’m still looking forward to this one, but I will keep your… warnings in mind once I get to this book.

If you ever feel up to giving it a try, I hope you enjoy it, but definitely don’t push yourself into anything you aren’t comfortable with!Anyhow I ate this book in literally one sitting because I was in the mood to be freaked out and it delivered tremendously. It feels like this book wanted to be a mash-up of Event Horizon and The Haunting of Hill House, but ended up being more like Disney's Haunted Mansion in space. I went into this novel expecting something to completely blow me away as the description was definitely hyping me up with excitement to sit back and read this from start to finish. When they catch the signal for a distress beacon for Aurora, a long-lost luxury liner, they decide to investigate. Authors always take a risk when they do things like that, whether the shift is in time, geography, characters, whatever.

By the time the action started occurring, I was more than ready and believe me, that action was a lot of gruesome, horror space action FUN! Critical reception for Dead Silence has been positive and Locus included it on their list of the best horror novels of 2022.
