About this deal

I have a hard time believing that all their talk of LiBN having a dead, lifeless mix is anything more than mere pretentious snobbery – maybe they have nicer sound systems and better ears than me, so I guess I could be wrong, but I actually think the album sounds pretty great, I don’t care what they say. In beautiful gatefold sleeve with great LP sized booklet of photos and interviews, and with a 7" which contains interviews and information about the recording of the album. I personally love Spector’s arrangement on the original album, I think it makes a cosmic song sound that much more cosmic, even if it could do with a cleaner mix.

Original film sound rolls now provide an invaluable historical record of these days in the life of The Beatles and they do contain some candid discussions about the future of the group. The other incarnations of it 'sometimes' lean more towards a tongue-in-cheek joke at times, or feels too self-conscious. The rest of the songs, shorn of Spector's decorative flourishes, confirm that although the Beatles were having occasional difficulty speaking to each other during these sessions, there was no problem about playing together.

I mean, what is this album supposed to be exactly – a version of the original album just without the Spectorization? And you have a point about Lennon’s vocal on “Across the Universe”, it does stand out a lot more, I just miss the other instruments.

No studio effects or overdubbing of voices or instruments would be allowed - just the bare necessities of the band. I would never know some of it was recorded on a rooftop on what looks like a bleak and windy day by a group who hadn't played as a band in public in too long and out in the elements no less. The impressive thing about it is the only thing going on in the movie while the music is playing is some guy is running around in a graveyard. Limited Edition 2014 Japanese Remastered Reissue, Shm-cd Comes In Vinyl Replica Paper Sleeve, With Obi Strip. This new version was mixed and produced by Paul Hicks (son of Hollies' Tony Hicks), Guy Massey and Allan Rouse. I am quite amazed at how for the first time in thirty odd years I can listen to these songs and hear how great they really are. Fly On The Wall" (7" Disc) consists of snippets of conversations and song-fragments as they were recording the album.
