About this deal

Come on a journey with veteran firearms officer, Stephen Smith as he goes behind the scenes of the Met's Specialist Firearms Unit, SCO19. Officers need sufficient legal protection to enable them to do their job and keep the public safe, and the confidence that it will be applied consistently and without fear or favor. AUTHOR: Stephen Smith, a veteran of over a thousand armed operations during his twenty-two years with the Metropolitan Police specialist firearms command, was born in south London in 1960. The Met is supporting officers who have stepped back from firearms duties to help them "fully understand the genuinely held concerns that they have". Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item.

If a police forces geographical area includes an airport, armed officers would be assigned to the airport to assist in security. We are grateful to the Ministry of Defence and the armed forces personnel involved for their support. This is a non-fiction history but it is not a dry account and the author knows his subject and brings it to life. Armed Police' 'Inside the Met's Firearms Unit' was published by Hale Publishing Ltd, it covered the early years of armed policing from 1966 right up to the London 2012 Olympic Games. It was seen as a success as only armed suspects committing a crime were killed and the public held a favourable view. However, the police were supplied with many firearms such as the Canadian Ross Rifle and P14 Enfield as part of the anti-invasion preparations of World War II.

I also saw the other side of this job, on the rare occasion when shots were fired, I witnessed first-hand the Post Incident Process (PIP) and saw the stress and jeopardy in which our officers were placed and the coping mechanisms we used to get through these difficult times.Armed Response Vehicle (ARV) units also commonly referred to as ‘Trojans’ are quick response units for firearms incidents in London. Since the forming of the British Police Force in 1829, firearms have been given out on an ad-hoc basis. Senior officers, including Scotland Yard chief Sir Mark Rowley, have been meeting with firearms officers in recent days to reflect on the charge. We are in ongoing discussions with those officers to support them and to fully understand the genuinely held concerns that they have.
