I also sprang for the Asurion 3-year coverage in case problems crop up that Canon won't address or I drop them, heaven forbid. Canon 15x50 IS All Weather Image Stabilised Binoculars features optical Image Stabilizer for superb sharp and steady viewing in harsh conditions or marine environments. I had one many years ago and sold it, but I have been re-converted, and should have listened to Kimmo many years ago. While it certainly wasn't a game-breaker for me, it was easier to see in the 18x when I went looking for it. If I had to choose one of these three, I would choose the Canon 10x42IS as the best all-rounder, and possibly the Canon 15x50, if my main application was astronomy and/or birding, although I would never part with the 10x42, if at all possible.

A single-activation button located where the right forefinger naturally rests makes using them easy and allows you to concentrate on viewing without distractions. Using Sky Safari, I judged I was able to see stars down to mag 10 (averted vision) with the IS engaged with pinpoint sharpness to my eyes in my suburban backyard. SpaceBass: Thanks for the link - it looks interesting and if it were made from carbon fibre could be a useful lightweight alternative to a 'pod especially for travel to remote places. The 15x50IS AW is unique among high-magnification binoculars because they incorporate Canon remarkable Optical Image Stabilizer technology. The number of tests depends on the individual product but we are confident in this product having tested all the major functions. Even slight support such as leaning against a wall or seated can remove this slow motion and make the view even better. My only complaint is that the eye cups are quite wide so for me they sre pressed hard against my nose when using them.

The exit pupil is the small circle of light you see when you hold the binoculars at arm's length and look through the eyepieces. Enjoy high quality performance, low cost prints and ultimate convenience with the PIXMA G series of refillable ink tank printers. Turn your Canon camera into a webcam to experience professional image quality during your video conferences. They will work for a lot of hours of consecutive IS-assisted birding, but it is nice to know they are not going to run out on you and the IS works a bit better when the power source has good current capacity. While sitting in a chair in the yard, when the IS engaged it was plenty steady to really enjoy the view.

Enjoy excellent viewing in harsh weather conditions thanks to weather resistance to JIS 4 specification.

Image Stabilization does have it’s drawbacks however, mainly you need batteries to make it work and the binoculars can be a little on the heavy side. The original 10x30 "swam" quite a lot, but the latest 12x36 (Mk III) I tested didn't appear to swim at all. While IS binoculars can outperform larger hand-hold none-IS binoculars, for a fraction of IS binoculars cost one can still get a good quality large aperture conventional binoculars which when properly mounted will reach deeper on DSOs and offer better resolution for planets and lunar.

I made a triangular aluminium frame ( from a discarded Zimmer frame ) with bicycle grips at the bottom and the bins attached at the top resting lightly against my brow. More critical focus is an issue when going quickly from near to far, but can be overcome with some tricks. Even with IS, I do find that I must calm my breathing and steady my stance very carefully to realize the maximum benefit. Save time and money with a Canon subscription service that puts your printing needs first and lets you print your way.

However, looking at the photos, the unit reviewed appears to have been made in Japan versus the newer models which are made in Taiwan. I was a bit warried because reports on the larger Canon IS models are mixed but IS works like a charm. I don't understand all the hate about the eyecups -- they seem like any other eyecups I've used on binos. One omission, though, when the IS button is in "always on" mode and in a horizontal position, it times out in 5 minutes like the 10x42Ls.

My point was that this downside of the Konig should be eliminated when using Canon IS binos and thus it could be a good aid in supporting the heavier IS models for longer viewing sessions. Spot your subject easily and experience a beautiful 61° apparent wide field of view with clear, flat, low distortion from edge to edge thanks to the porro II prism optics and doublet field flattener element. Among the binoculars in my collection, they have delivered the sharpest and flattest views with image stabilization on top of that. Combine documents such as PDFs and image files onto one page on your Windows computer before printing. Connect your camera to your Apple or Android device for firmware updates, remote shooting or to easily download your photos.
