Description

The Now series in Portugal is a joint-venture between the three major international publishers present in Portugal – EMI, Sony and Universal. Starting with 1983, the series will cover each year in depth via compilations released on a four-CD boxset and 3 disc coloured vinyl LP set by Now Music, with a tie-in programme (featuring videos from the year in question) appearing on their Freeview TV channel. The 3CD sets boast deluxe Yearbook-style hardcover book packaging with notes about the tracks, summary of the era and original NOW artwork. There were multiple pressings of the album in the first year, but collectors pay attention to the labels to tell which is the rarest of them all. Malcolm McLaren - Double Dutch: I remember this song playing in my head whenever I saw people doing the skipping game.

The Weeknd’s global smash hit ‘Blinding Lights’ brings the collection into the ‘20s, followed by the massive debut ‘Heat Waves’ from Glass Animals. Outstanding value and a great snap shot year by year of the best pop records through these four great decades of music. The Out Now series by MCA and Chrysalis was also established as a rival to the series, [6] but was short-lived and lasted only two volumes.More of a bundle than a singular record, the red-and-white-marbled LP was shrink-wrapped with a blue 7-inch, and there were only 500 numbered sets made. However, beginning with Now 15, there have been two editions each year which usually take place in early winter and late summer.

When Nirvana’s Bleach was initially released in 1989, the first printing was limited to 1000 copies, which were sold to music fans at Lamefest in Seattle. The sought-after album includes a string of hits from the eighties including The Reflex by Duran Duran and Style Council’s Shout To The Top. The 100th edition of Now, released today (July 20), has sparked a wave of nostalgia for the much-loved compilations. Some of the earlier volumes were also released on Betamax and for some volumes laserdiscs were also released. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. Later the series started over with Now Esto Es Música 1, [31] which included songs from artists like Juanes, Enrique Iglesias, George Michael, Sheryl Crow, Tiziano Ferro, Alex Ubago, Las Ketchup and U2. The new 78-minute set fits snugly into to the rear section of the original *Happiness not included CD book format, with no versions on the vinyl duplicated on the CD. If you or your parents were riding the wave with Paul and the boys from the beginning, hopefully someone had the foresight not to open the copy.

I know how easy it is to get something damaged in the post if the postman or somebody is a bit rough with it. I was not introduced to UKs NOW series until the beginning of the 90s, so Im very happy to be completing my collection with the original 80s volumes, now reissued on CDs. If you want to go deeper, then the NOW team have split the 40 year period into four decades, resulting in four volumes, with 3CD and 3LP sets devoted to each ten year period. Bob Dylan’s second album changed a bit just before it was supposed to be released in 1963, and those track changes can mean a difference of tens of thousands of dollars if your copy falls on the right side of the fence.

Targeting a broad age group, the channel used to play current popular music in the daytime and hits from its 30-year back catalogue in the evenings. This collection features the biggest hits of the years 1983 to 2023, and takes us from Culture Club to Mark Ronson by way of Coldplay, Lady Gaga, Robbie Williams, Oasis and George Michael, and many more. From the Now 2 through Now 21, the compilation was always done on a rotation system among the three music companies.
