Optional magnetic closures available in my shop, and here’s my full tutorial on how to install them! Fabrics: Riverbend Big Sur Canvas for the exteriors and Riverbend Essex for the linings, plus for the contrast bottoms: This pattern is delivered as 4 PDF files (instructions, print-at-home, print-at-home assembly guide, and A0 file). When I found out that Riverbend was going to be able to be printed on Big Sur Canvas it was game on. If you’re a seasoned bag maker, you probably already know that canvas makes such a sturdy bag and even saves you some time and interfacing! You know I’m a big advocate for making usable things! My Pepin Tote in Riverbend is probably one of my favorite bags to use.

Recommended Fabrics: Canvas (7-9 oz. weight) for ExteriorInterfacings: I used Emmaline Bags medium weight fusible woven interfacing for one of these totes just to try out the options, for the other two I used my go-to Pellon SF101 fusible woven as well! Both work great in my opinion! my exterior pieces in the following steps are shown without interfacing so as to hopefully better show the process. Piece the exterior Fabrics: Riverbend Big Sur Canvas for the exterior (this one is called Ocean, but the color is more of a dark blue/green) and Riverbend Essex for the lining This PDF pattern contains a combination of pattern pieces (printed templates) and rotary cutting instructions/measurements (metric & imperial) for a few rectangles, printable label sheet for keeping organized (inches and cm), and includes detailed step-by-step instructions with professional illustrations.

Start by sewing the exterior together by placing the main print and accent fabric RST and sewing using a 1/4″ seam allowance. Press seam to one side and topstitch. Fuse woven interfacing to wrong side. PLEASE NOTE: this pattern is written for fixed-length zippers (not zipper by the yard, if using zipper by the yard please add 1.5" to the length of each designated zipper)full-size pattern sheet for all non-rectangular pieces, and rotary cutting instructions/measurements for rectangular pattern pieces (just cut and sew, no need to cut out pattern pieces) Before this pattern, I had made a tote that I used all the time on road trips and whenever I needed to bring along something bigger than would fit in my daily bag that I carry. So that tote evolved into the Pepin Tote pattern! And yes, if you’re wondering, it’s named after Lake Pepin (my Dad grew up near there). Pattern Matching
