Advanced Creator Zones include a textured 3D grip zone on lateral sides for enhanced ball cutting and driving Puma always had a reputation for pushing the boundaries of speed, culminating in their SL boots which infamously only lasted 10 games. The Puma Ultra 1.3, though is a much more balanced affair. It’s very light but does not compromise on touch and thinness nor sacrifice too much on the durability front. Like past Futures (pun unintended), the boot is fairly wide so expect to go half a size down in them. The moment you put on the Puma Future Z 1.3, you’ll immediately notice the compression band doing its work on you.

The leather around the toe-box of the foot does not stretch, though. That's a good thing: it means you don't have to up-size to get bigger. Over time, however, this leather is probably going to soften, so look out for that. The formula of the Puma Future Z 1.3 has remained the same as its predecessor – a boot that fits most foot shapes through an adaptable midfoot. The adaptability comes from the compression material covering the midfoot and Puma has invested more on that front. The compression band, officially named FUZIONFIT+, covers the entire midfoot up to the lace area and the mouth of the boot. About two thirds of the boot is covered in FUZIONFIT+. It hasn’t taken the big cat long to improve on their Future Z again and this time, I think it is almost perfect. Puma Future Z 1.3: Going bigger on compression We were huge fans of the Puma Ultra 1.1 and 1.2, because interestingly, Puma gave it a more voluminous fit, which made it friendly for wider footed players. Not with the Future Z, though. These ones slipped on like a pair of slippers and felt fantastic – though over time when you're running, you can feel a slight pull across the top of your foot from the wear, due to the material. This made it one of the few wide-foot friendly speed boots on the market, whilst also having a super lightweight and aggressive tooling with a thin barefoot knit based upper. Just on looks alone though, the Puma Ultra 1.3 is an entirely different beast, so strap up to find out just how different the new Puma Ultra is. Forefoot has no structure and feels extremely soft and pliable; comfortable feel favourite part of Jay Mike about the Future Dynamic Motion System พื้นรองเท้าชั้นนอกให้อิสระในการเคลื่อนไหวที่ยอดเยี่ยมและรองรับการเปลี่ยนแปลงทิศทางอย่างรวดเร็ว Previous Future compression band feels too concentrated on the midfoot; compression in new Future Z 1.3 feels evenly spread outOf course, that 15 grams doesn't mean much between models – but try these ones out against, say, the heavier vegan Puma Kings, and you can notice a world of difference in weight. They're heavier than the incredibly light Nike Tiempos but not by too much. First thing to notice is the snug and comfortable fit; meshed forefoot soft and free, and moulds well around the toes in an instant; knit collar compresses well and transitions smoothly to the lower leg We tested a pair of the Puma Future Z Lazertouch football boots in a UK size 10 (US 11/EUR 45/BR 43/CM 29 - Women's: UK 10/US 12/EUR 45/BR 43/CM 29). Comfort and fit It’s in the Match where you’ll also find a dedicated laceless option on top of the usual laced model. Kids Future

The latest iteration involved a compression band to adapt to your foot shape, evolving from the first concept of infinite lacing options. This greatly improved the boot with an improved fit but I found the touch on the ball to feel pretty… meh. Dynamic Motion System soleplate has a nice, stiff, and stable midfoot and a set of studs good for rotational movements; does feel working with the foot rather than against it; Would prefer Puma consider the soleplate purefly FG and recommends getting the MG for artificial ground Oh, and props to the designers for Puma cat logos: they nailed the effect on the front of the toe and with the gold version on the heel. They, in particular, look excellent – as does the "LAZERTOUCH" leading up between the leather and the main body of the cleat. Get a few touches of the ball in the Future Z Lazertouch cleats and it feels a little odd: these are leather soccer cleats… and yet they're so light. Apparently, these are just 15 grams heavier than the last Future Z cleats, which are far more rubbery, with little knobbly bits for clearer touch. FFT worried about these ones when we got them out the box. Notoriously, the lighter the boot, the more difficult it's going to be to get on.Get a few touches of the ball in the Future Z Lazertouch boots and it feels a little odd: these are leather football boots… and yet they're so light. Apparently, these are just 15 grams heavier than the last Future Z boots, which are far more rubbery, with little nobbly bits for clearer touch. Has sleek shape with low toe box; less foam than Future Z 1.4 but still very comfortable and welcoming It should come as no surprise that the tighter fit means that there is some break-in time required when you first put on the Puma Ultra 1.3.

While I’m not the biggest fan of such a move, it’s an understandable one. When it comes to speed, one of the ways to make a boot feel “faster” or more lightweight, is to have the boot fit your foot more tightly, so it feels more one-to-one. Oh, and props to the designers for Puma cat logos: they nailed the effect on the front of the toe and with the gold version on the heel. They, in particular, look excellent – as does the "LAZERTOUCH" leading up between the leather and the main body of the boot. To further reduce weight, Puma also included transparent cut-out windows in the upper, giving it that super speedy look. To ensure that you’re not faster than the ball in wet conditions, the upper has also been coated with a GripControl Pro skin upper to ensure the grippiest touch on the ball even in wet conditions. At a US9 size, the Puma Ultra 1.3 comes in at a stunning 159g which is a weight that can hardly be beaten by another mass produced football boot. A speedier and streamlined fit

Trapping a ball feels close to feet but I felt that the knit provided just a bit of cushion for me to feet like I had the feathered touch of Olivier Giroud. I also felt confident with my passing and crosses as I could wrap my foot around the ball easily with that adaptive upper. The women’s variant of the Ultra 1.3 follows closely to these principles, swapping the super aggressive bladed tooling for a conical one, similar to the one found on the recently released Puma King Platinum 2021. It’s an interesting experiment and one that we’d love to see other brands follow, as the women’s game grows.
