I had been ready to dub Kukoos: Lost Pets a pretty flawed but ultimately alright kind of a game, but at this point I can’t even give it that. It’s got flaws, but it’s also simply broken in some way as well. From what I can tell, there are four worlds (unless there’s some secret one once you finish, which there may well be), and at the point that I had to stop, the game had me at about 24% total completion, though I wasn’t exactly trying very hard to get every collectable. Rabid As a player, collaboration is the name of the game as you need to collaborate and play between twelve different Kukoos and team up with five unique pets so that you can use their unique abilities to solve puzzles and defeat some of the more dangerous residents of the Kukoo worlds. You can play the game on your own or invite friends with up to 4-player multiplayer co-op to quadruple the fun of the game!

However, for the perfectionists amongst us, as well as a coin target for each level, there are Fwendly flowers to find and a certain number of creatures to free from the Kukoomand. What’s great is that there are more than enough creatures and coins in the level to help get (and pass) those targets. Characters Now, where is the key? Prepare to be mesmerized by the stunning and vibrant locations you will encounter throughout your journey. Each world within the Kukoo tree boasts its own unique biome, offering a diverse range of landscapes, hidden secrets, and awe-inspiring environmental wonders. The first world gives you a pet that lets you light up the area, as well as use a flash ability that stuns enemies and activates certain objects. The level design is pretty good and the controls work well. Your character can jump, roll, and perform an air roll, so they’re fairly mobile. It controls similarly to the cat suit in Super Mario 3D World. The camera system is also very similar to that one, as the game constantly makes use of fixed camera angles that adjust based on the level’s needs. Kukoos: Lost Pets is a game that I could have given scraped for passing grade with some heavy notes if it actually managed to do everything that it had set out to. However, the technical flaws here just added up too much for me to even make it to the end, so I can’t even give it that much credit. It’s a real shame what happened here and I can only hope the developers will learn from this. Pros During the first stage in each world, you find a creature to help you on your adventure. Each world has a different creature with its own unique ability.You see, each world grants you a pet that the levels are designed around you using. The second world is a pet that can make a platform, a really fun idea! However, when you are carrying the pet, your jump basically completely disappears. This didn’t happen with the first pet so having this change come in so suddenly is pretty jarring and it takes quite a while to get used to the way your ability to move changes so often. You’re not using these pets just once in a while, it’s constant. Additionally, the pet is on a short leash, so there’s no letting go of them to get through a platform section and then call them to you, you’ve got to be changing your jump up all the time. For the minimum requirements, the game requires a Windows 8.1 or 10 operating system, an Intel Core i5 4570 processor running at 3.2 GHz or an AMD FX - 8350 processor. It also requires 8 GB of RAM and a GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon RX 480 graphics card. The game needs DirectX 11 and 10 GB of available storage space. For the recommended requirements, the game requires a Windows 10 operating system, an Intel Core i7 4770K or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X processor. It also requires 16 GB of RAM and a GeForce GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 590 graphics card. The game needs DirectX 11 and 10 GB of available storage space. Minimum: During the tutorial and encountering new places/creatures, there is on-screen guidance. There were a couple of times I could have done with a little more help, but it didn’t stop me from completing the game.
