I hate to give this author a low rating because I tip my hat to her for doing the thing she loves and putting it out into the world. That’s amazing. Ben Schwartz as Clyde Oberholt, a member of Marty's consultant pod who specialises in marketing and spin. He was part of Marty's pod before he left Galweather. He briefly became part of Monica's pod in Kinsley & Associates when he and Marty had a falling-out. He eventually worked his way into Kaan & Associates. He has a jealous, arrogant and often cruel personality, and very rarely shows any real emotions. Clyde struggles with drug addiction throughout the later seasons. I am liking this take of faeries, there isn't too much lore in this book and the wolrd building feels a little underdeveloped but you don't really notice this too much because of the fast paced nature of this book. I stumbled upon this while doom scrolling on Booktok... thank heavens I did! I am so happy to have found another romantasy book that I could devour. AND THAT I DID! I could NOT put this book down! From start to finish I was hooked on the relationship between the two main characters.I loved Mal he came off as arrogant and careless towards Jade but as the story progressed and I read more from his side I began to understand his initial facade. Even from the beginning it was clear he was trying his best to create distance between himself and jade for her safety. I loved how he didn't know her or care for her (so he said) but wouldn't allow anyone to disrespect her, it was very admirable of him and it gave me hope that even if he turns out to be the monster that he is claimed to be that he wouldn't be one to jade, that he would do anything for her. A flush is when all five cards in your hand are of the same suit. The probability of having a flush is 0.0015, or 1 in 660. It's not safe at the wedding with everyone around, but a few days later it's safe at lunch because no one would dare make a move with so many people around, and the next day(?) at the court meeting it's not safe again with everyone around? I think this would have benefitted from having an editor do at least one pass. There are typos and grammar mistakes, but there were also issues with the timeline staying straight that really took me out of the story. If you’re a fan of Dance with the Fae Prince and Cruel Beauty, this mesmerizing fantasy tale is a must-read! This author’s writing style reminded me of my own, so I felt cozy and at home. However, a lot of the events felt too drawn out. The need to constantly swap pov’s I think hinders the novel a bit making a singular scene go from edge of my seat thrilling to “how much longer is this chapter?” Overall, I think there is a lot of potential here. I just think it needs a bit of minor work. Jade’s determination and inner strength got my stamp of approval from the start. Fighting to survive and avoid starvation in the Human Realm, she was literally thrown into a den of vipers at the Fae kingdom of Rewyth and forced to marry the Prince of Shadows. Expecting the worst, she fights tooth and nail to survive and stay alive, with some help from some unexpected friends.Brianna Baker as Tess Symington, Green Point owner, Dungeons & Dragons player and briefly Doug's girlfriend To be honest, it felt like a bit too much inspiration had been taken from the ACOTAR story. I loved ACOTAR, but I do wish this had been a bit more original.
